You can visit Tijuana and arrive by plane to either of these two airports – Tijuana-General Abelardo L. Rodtríguez International Airport and San Diego International Airport.

General Abelardo L. Rodtríguez International Airport is located 6 km east of downtown Tijuana and the San Ysidro border. It is also 1.6 km west of another border crossing – Otay.  On the other hand, the San Diego International, is 15 miles north of the border. Most travelers make it a transit point to go to Tijuana and continue southward from the US.

From the airport, your journey continues by land towords your destination through rented cars, taxis, bus and trolleys. Taxis and rented cars can be booked online for convenience and can take you directly to the border. Yellow taxis charge USD$5 while white & orange ones cost USD$3 to get to downtown Tijuana.

TRAVELING BY LAND:

Most tourists enter this city through the US-Mexico border at San Ysidro, one of the busiest border crossings in the world. The crossing can be accessibly made by bus, car, or on foot.

From Tijuana International Airport to Tijuana (11.6 km) using a motor vehicle:

Traveling to Tijuana from the airport will take only 18 minutes. From the airport, take Tecate/Vía de la Juventud Ote/México 2, then turn left at the fork, and follow signs bound for México 1/C. Camionera Rosarito. Turn right to continue toward Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard – Tecate/México 2. Then, take the exit toward Diaz Ordaz Boulevard/Auditorio Municipal. Finally, make a U-turn and turn right to the 2nd exit to Las Lomas Boulevard.

From San Diego International Airport to Tijuana (26.8 miles) using a motor vehicle:

From the airport, head northwest to the Airport Terminal Road and take the ramp to I-5/Downtown. Get to N Harbor Dr and turn left towards W Grape St. Next, turn right to de la Juventud Ote and take the ramp to Rápida José Fimbres Moreno in La Mesa. Then, take the exit toward Bernardo O’Higgins Boulevard and head right to Gustavo Díaz Ordaz. Finally, turn left to Guadalajara to head straight to the 3rd left of Las Lomas/Corona del Rosal. Taking this route will take you 39 minutes without traffic.
